Spain, officially the Kingdom of
Spain is a sovereign
state located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern
Europe. Spain is one of only three countries to have both Atlantic and
Mediterranean coastlines. Its mainland is bordered to the south and
east by the Mediterranean Sea, to the north and northeast by France, Andorra,
and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and
the Atlantic Ocean. Spain is the second largest country in Western
Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in Europe,
its total area is 504,782 km2. By population, Spain is the
sixth largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union. The exact

About the climate, three main climatic zones can be separated, according to geographical situation and orographic conditions:
1. The Mediterranean climate, characterised by warm and dry summers.
2. The semi-arid climate, in contrast with the Mediterranean climate, the dry season extends beyond the summer.
3. The Oceanic climate. In this climate zone winter and summer temperatures are influenced by the ocean, and have no seasonal drought.
